I've used it to recreate many different compressors and other dynamic plug-ins. Use one of the splitter plug-ins and insert this on each band for a OP multiband dynamics processor, or just create your own crazy transfer functions and go wild. Like pointed out: JS:General Dynamics is a hidden gem that many don't know about! Superb dynamics processor that can be used as either a upwards or downwards compressor, upward or downwards expander, gate or limiter. Quite advanced plug-in that not many DAWs have an equivalent to. ReaFIR is great for noise removal, and I sometimes use it as a linear-phase EQ. ReaVerb is a great multichannel convolutional reverb. You might cause dangerous volume spikes if you don't use it correctly - for example overlapping the filters or setting the feedback too high for the amount of time you've chosen. It's a pretty advanced delay, but the drawbacks with it makes it a bit undesirable. ReaDelay is also one of those underrated Reaper plug-ins that not many think much of. There are quite a few free comps that are as good as (or better than) ReaComp, but it's still a perfectly fine stock comp that has all the functionality you need in a digital compressor. However, you can just use any of the JS frequency splitter plug-ins to split your signal and use whatever comp you'd like instead of using ReaXComp. ReaXComp is another one that doesn't have many free competitors, if any. Both auto-tune and manual-tune modes are great. It's not as advanced as Melodyne, but you can easily get album quality pitch correction with as long as you are not trying to polish a turd. ReaTune is IMO a very underrated plug-in pitch correction plug-in. Works perfectly as a side-chain ducker in Inverted mode as well. If you want a trance gate with sequencer etc you could go with Auburn Sounds Renegate or something, but for regular mixing duties ReaGate is king. ReaGate is simply the best free gate I know of. There are no other free true peak limiters afaik. The only free limiters that can compete with ReaLimit are TDR/VladGSound Limiter 6 and Thomas Mundt Loudmax. The only real issue is that bell-bands can cramp near Nyquist (if you use 44.1 or 48kHz sample rate), but you can just set it to 2x oversampling to get around this issue. It can't compete with the likes of Pro-Q 3, but it can compete with all other DAW stock EQs. ReaEQ is as good as most minimum-phase parametric EQs. Not to say that they are the best plug-ins out there, but they are not bad at all. When you make a DAW and sell it for $60.00 you probably gotta cut some corners somewhere.
